Designing The Perfect Kitchen For You

Designing your dream kitchen can seem daunting especially you’ve no idea where to start. There are so many different things to consider, from storage and style to colours and themes that suit your home. So, we’ve put together a few things you should consider when you start planning the perfect kitchen for you and your family.

Plan First

As obvious as it might sound, putting together a detailed plan is the perfect starting point. Plan the layout of your kitchen, consider where you’d like storage, the hob, fridge and the sink to be, although this might not be exactly where everything ends up, it’s a great place to start. Furthermore, As beautiful as trends can be, they are fleeting and so they can be great for inspiration and ideas, don’t choose a kitchen just because it’s on-trend.

Establish A Budget

Setting yourself a manageable and appropriate budget helps to ensure your kitchen isn’t going to break the bank. Kitchens are a large investment and can be expensive, especially when you factor in all the small details, so we recommend looking around and establishing a realistic budget, which covers everything, from appliances to the fittings and styles.

Functionality

If you’re going for completely integrated appliances, then you will need to think about where things will go. For example, if you’re placing a microwave a little higher up, can the shortest user reach this without any assistance? Obviously, this doesn’t include young children but older children are more likely to use it.

Plenty of Sockets

For many families, kitchens become the central hub, where everyone gathers regardless of whether it’s mealtime or not. So, include an ample number of easy to access sockets or even USB ports so there isn’t any fighting when it comes to who gets to charge things first!

Colour & Materials

Depending on the style and size of your home and specifically your existing kitchen space, picking the perfect colour is important. Whether you choose elegant, clean, neutral or bold and bright, you want something to compliment any furnishings you choose.
